gasoline

My husband got some on his clothes. Three washes later (one with detergent, one with detergent and vinegar and one with dish soap), they still smell like gas.

I don't want to blow up my dryer...as that's expensive, dangerous, and involves fire.

Any one have any ideas?

Burn them. It leaves a nice charred smell.

In all actuality, I've never found a way, except for time. Hang them outside for a long time. You can use our backyard if you want, so they won't get stolen.

Yeah, I know to hang them up and let it evaporate...the problem was before I came home to do that, Donald already had them soaking in the washing machine. So, I had to let the cycle run and now the whole machine (even without the clothes in it) smells like gasoline. Also, he washed other clothes with the gasoline clothes, so LOTS of clothes smell like gas. I was just looking for a quicker fix.
